The Out Spoken Artshow
Well I've been working a bit hard these last couple of months. In May I was involved in a art show in Pittsburgh call Out Spoken located in the Culture District downtown. It was my first real big mass art show, the funny thing is I didn't even show up for it. I'm not the type that likes to hang around to stroke my ego, also I don't like the idea of a lot of people contacting my face to my art.
Well the good news is one of them sold even before it got there on art shows website! It was "Ferguson's Journey" and I sold it $175 of course it was for charity and I only made 60% of that, but still it's nice to know someone things my art is worth that much. A month later I find out the person that bought it, was very happy with it and feels that he got it for a really deal.
In that same month the next day in fact, there was another art show called Art All Night. This Art Show is more of a public show, but the cool part is more people show up to this one and it's a good place to check out how the art scene is coming along in the Pittsburgh area. I didn't sale my piece "What is Value" there, but I did sale it due to it just being there with my contact info. The person that bought it was a really nice gentleman and his girlfriend, after we set a meeting for the piece we talk and got to know each other and I gave him a little run down on the piece itself and what connecting it had with my life. In the end I was happy to sale it to him, he was a awesome guy and that piece found a good home with nice people.
After all that art stuff was over I took a really long break. I was going through some serious emotional craziness and depression while getting this stuff ready to show and creating. My friends and lovers of my work really help me out through a lot of it, more than what the probably. It seems like every time I just want to quit someone I know that I never would expect would come out of the blue and say, "Hey ---, I like your work!" It really means a lot to hear that from people that I know and admire, because I never really consider myself good enough to have someone I know randomly tell me that.
Hearing simple praises gives me inspiration to do something with this art thing, so I'm doing my best to sell my art work and make my work more known not just in Pittsburgh or amongst my peers.
